Album Review: Nuet

Dorena’s Nuet is a lush journey of melody and emotions.  The band’s third full-length is almost entirely an instrumental affair that is cinematic in scope.  Generally speaking, I don’t get the post-rock sub-genre.  All of the post-rock bands that I have heard have been comprised of very technically capable musicians, they just happened to play music that doesn’t connect with me.  Dorena’s Nuet, like U137’s Dreamer on the Run, is the exception to that rule.  This record is breathtakingly beautiful with a staggering range of emotional highs and lows with a generous touch of indie rock pop sensibilities.  And like U137, someone in Hollywood needs to sign Dorena to produce scores for movies because their music is perfectly suited for the big screen.
