EP Review: Denim

Title:  Denim (Amazon, iTunes)
Artist:  Wild Roses (Official, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)

Wild Roses' debut EP Denim is a blast of pure rock 'n' roll greatness.  In fact the three songs on Denim are a breathtaking mix of The Rolling Stones, John Mellencamp, and Primal Scream with their ridiculous high energy, gritty hooks, and every-man spirit.  In other words, this is great stuff!

Wild Roses is lead by guitarist and singer Marc Orrell formerly of the Dropkick Murphys.  Orrell played with DKM from 2000 - 2008, during which time that band recorded some of their best material in my humble opinion.  "The Kid" as he was called not only brought amazing guitar chops to DKM, but had a stage presence that was incredible to watch (just check out the band's live DVD On the Road with the Dropkick Murphys and you'll see what I mean).  When Orrell left the Dropkick Murphys he stated it was to pursue music in different directions and I'm glad that he did.  There is more energy in Denim's three songs than in anything that his former band has released since his departure.

Wild Roses is the perfect band for fans of fun, balls-to-the-wall rock 'n' roll and Denim is an outstanding debut.
