EP Review: Crash Course

Title:  Crash Course (BandCamp, Amazon, iTunes, CD Baby)
Artist:  Young Lyons (Official, Facebook, Twitter, ReverbNation, YouTube, BandCamp)

Young Lyons debut EP Crash Course is a blast of pop rock gems that is reminiscent of everything from the poppy emo groups of the early 2000s to the alternative pop bands of the 1990s to the pop and new wave bands of the 1980s to the power pop groups of the late 1970s.  In other words this is seven songs of lush pop rock that mixes big harmonies and bigger hooks.  Songs like the infectious “Kill” highlight just how diverse Young Lyons audience could be, with a style that would sound perfectly at home played next to the likes of Boston, Cady Groves, Owl City, Weezer, Cutting Crew, and The All-American Rejects.  Crash Course is a very solid debut from Young Lyons; I can’t wait to see what the band does next!

Solid lyrical and performance that, to me, resembles the "power pop" of bands like Tinted Windows and Weezer. Great production value as well.
