Album Review: The Stand-In

Title:  The Stand-In (Spin Shop, ATO Records, Amazon, iTunes, AllMusic, Wikipedia)

Caitlin Rose possesses a strikingly beautiful voice that is equal parts Patsy Cline, Stevie Nicks, and Jenny Lewis.  On her sophomore full-length album The Stand-In, she effortlessly straddles the genres of traditional country, pop, and Americana creating a sound that not only perfectly fits those styles but also transcends them.  From beginning to end this is a perfect record and if there was any musical justice in the world, Caitlin Rose would be huge.  Songs like “Everywhere I Go,” “No One To Call,” and “Menagerie” dare you to not fall in love with them and they just scratch the surface.  Fans of everything from The Lumineers to Kate Nash to Dolly Parton to She & Him will find something to love on The Stand-In.
