EP Review: Pick a Family

Title:  Pick a Family (BandCamp)
Artist:  Missing Sibling (Official [BandCamp], Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, ReverbNation, SoundCloud)

Missing Sibling’s five song EP Pick a Family is a lush breath of indie rock/pop.  This band has taken the best elements from groups like the Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine, and The Jesus & Mary Chain and mixed them together with an excellent sense of restraint.  The result is beautiful pop songs with just the right amount of guitar feedback and noise.  What’s also impressive about Missing Sibling is that they have created a very large sound while being a power trio (kind of like Dinosaur Jr.).  Pick a Family is a great EP for fans of the noisy indie rock/pop and shoegazer sounds and any of the aforementioned bands.

For those in the Tulsa area, Missing Sibling will be playing with The Hope Trust and Foreign Home at Yeti (formerly Crystal Pistol) on Saturday January 19th.
