EP Review: Tightrope Walker

Title:  Tightrope Walker (Jump Start Records, BandCamp [Jump Start], Big Cartel, Amazon, iTunes, Interpunk)
Artist:  Broadcaster (Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, BandCamp, Big Cartel, Last.fm)

One of my favorite releases of 2011 was Broadcaster’s Joyride (check out my review here) and their latest EP Tightrope Walker is one of my favorites of 2012.  This band is simply genius.  The three songs on Tightrope Walker are ridiculously catchy and fun power pop meets pop punk meets early ‘90s indie rock.  Broadcaster is one of the great bands to come out in the past few years that are dripping with ‘90s nostalgia (see Great Cynics, Candy Hearts, Cheap Girls, and The Thermals).  From start to finish this EP is a flawless work of rock ‘n’ roll beauty.  In fact my only complaint is that it is only three songs.  Fans of bands like Smoking Popes, Buffalo Tom, The Lemonheads, Sicko, Sebadoh, Jets to Brazil and any of the aforementioned bands really need to check out Broadcaster.  Seriously, this stuff is brilliant.
