EP Review: Maker

Hailing from Springfield, MA, Maker is a band that mixes elements of emo and indie rock, resulting in a sound that is a bit of a cross between Sunny Day Real Estate, Joy Division, and Rilo Kiley.  The five-song self titled EP is well executed both in the band’s performances and in the record’s production.  Maker has an intensity to their music and an almost sad desperation in their vocals, resulting in a very emotionally intense release.  Maker is a young and capable band that is sure to strike a chord with kids in the scene (this music is a fantastic soundtrack for those going the emotional turmoil of high school).
