Album Review: Plateaus

Hailing from San Diegom CA, Plateaus plays a low-fi brand of garage/indie rock that sounds like a cross between Eugenius, Sebadoh, and Johnny Thunders.  The band’s self-titled full-length debut is 12 songs of garage-y, surf-y, power pop goodness.  The bare-bones low-fi production adds an energy and an underdog urgency to the songs giving the record a feeling of desperation (and not desperation in a sad, mopey kind of way, more of a we’ve-got-to-get-this-done-yesterday kind of way).  Plateaus is certainly a band to watch and this record is a must for fans of garage rock and low-fi indie rock/power pop.
