Album Review: Restrained Joy

Title:  Restrained Joy (Unbuckled Records, SoundCloud, PunkNews.org)
Artist:  Marine Electric (Facebook, MySpace, BandCamp, Big Cartel, Last.fm)

Marine Electric plays slightly angular melodic post hardcore with a hint of indie rock.  Restrained Joy is ten songs of melodic angles and passionate vocals.  Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Marine Electric officially became a band in 2007 after going to high school together and learning how to play in a band in each other’s parent’s basements.  Since then the band has released a hand full of EPs (two of which you can pick up on their BandCamp page).

Despite being a young band, Restrained Joy is a mature sounding record, which is probably a result of the years the band has spent as friends.
