Album Review: Magic Jake & the Power Crystals

Title:  Magic Jake & the Power Crystals (Burger Records, BandCamp)
Artist:  Magic Jake & the Power Crystals (Facebook, Songkick, Last.fm)

Magic Jake & the Power Crystals play raw power pop with a hint of mod in the vein of The Who.  The band's self-titled debut is a high energy romp that sounds like it could have been recorded in the 1960s, but with a shot of speed.  Hailing from Detroit, MI, Magic Jake & the Power Crystals have tapped into the history or rock ‘n’ roll with their no-frills, high energy tunes.  From start to finish this is a jumpin' record and sure to please fans of power pop and garage rock.
