Album Review: Let’s Get You Somewhere Else

Title:  Let’s Get You Somewhere Else (Chunksaah Records, Amazon, Interpunk)
Artist:  Luther (Official, Facebook, Twitter, BandCamp, Last.fm)

Luther's full-length debut, Let’s Get You Somewhere Else, is a blast of punk/college/indie rock goodness.  Since releasing their debut EP Siblings and Sevens and the four-way split with The Copyrights, Grey Area, and The Reveling last year, Luther has made quite a name for themselves in the punk rock underground.  Let’s Get You Somewhere Else is 11 songs that sound like a mix of The Bomb, Dramarama, The Gaslight Anthem, The Ataris, and Superchunk--in other words it freaking rules!  From top to bottom, this is an outstanding record, each song a potential anthem and classic.  There’s got to be something in the water in Philadelphia that promotes great bands with larger than life sounds.  First there was The Loved Ones and now Luther.  This band really is a great new talent in the underground music scene and if Let’s Get You Somewhere Else is any indication to what we have to expect from this band, then they are sure to have a long and vibrant career.
