Album Review: Vulnerable Boy

Title:  Vulnerable Boy (Dromedary Records, Amazon, iTunes)

The Mommyheads is an indie pop/indie rock band that originally got together in New York City in 1987.  Their initial run ended in 1998 but the band reformed in 2008.  Since getting back together the band has recorded three full-length albums with Vulnerable Boy being the latest.  The album consists of off-kilter indie pop songs in the vein of XTC.  The record’s standout moment is the first single “Skinny White Uptight” a rockin’ power pop number about the indignities of being a smart high school misfit, followed closely by the bonus track “No One Gives a Damn About Your Band.”  Vulnerable Boy is a well crafted indie pop record that should please fans of the genre.
