EP Review: State Lines

Title:  State Lines (Tiny Engine Records, BandCamp, Amazon, iTunes)
Artist:  State Lines (Facebook, Tumblr, BandCamp, Last.fm)

State Lines plays that mix of post hardcore, pop punk, Midwestern punk, and emo that is often referred to as orgcore.  In 2011 the band independently released their full-length debut Hoffman Manor, their self-titled EP is the band’s first for Tiny Engine Records.  State Lines is a four song EP of excellent orgcore punk rock.  There are hints of a variety of influences in State Lines’ music (everything from Jimmy Eat World to Dillinger Four to Hot Water Music) but the band that comes to mind most when listing to this EP is The Menzingers.  No matter who influenced State Lines, the band has put together an excellent follow up to their debut album that is sure to gain them a strong following in the punk rock community.
