Album Review: Safe for Now

Title:  Safe for Now (Pure Noise Records, Amazon, iTunes)
Artist:  The American Scene (Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Last.fm)

The American Scene plays an interesting blend of indie rock, emo, and poppy post hardcore.  Their full-length debut Safe for Now is ten songs that walk the lines between subgenres creating a sound that is unique and family all at the same time.  Trying to pick out other bands that sound like The American Scene is difficult but just for comparison’s sake try to imagine a combination of Sunny Day Real Estate and Superchunk.  The record’s standout moment is the catchy mid-tempo “Used To You.”  The American Scene is the kind of band that should appeal to a wind range of fans including indie rockers, fans of post hardcore and emo, and orgcore kids, among others.
