Veronica Mars follows the adventures of teenage private investigator of the same name. From the Storyline on IMDB –
The murder of high-school student, Lilly Kane, shook the seaside town of
California to the core. For once
popular girl, Veronica Mars, it meant the loss of her best friend; and being
ousted from the affluent crowd, she once thought were her friends.
Additionally, her father Sheriff Keith Mars found himself voted out of his job,
after making some unpopular accusations about the murdered girl's family. In
response, Keith opened his own private detective agency. Now, Veronica, with
her sardonic wit and few new friends, works as his assistant while also navigating
life as a high school (and later college) student...
And from Wikipedia –
The series is set in the fictional town of Neptune, California, and stars Kristen Bell as the title character, a student who progresses from high school to college while moonlighting as a private investigator under the tutelage of her detective father. In each episode, Veronica solves a different stand-alone case while working to solve a more complex mystery.
I first heard about Veronica Mars through a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan site, but for whatever reason never followed the show. Recently I was in the library in
and saw that they had the series available for checkout. I placed a hold on the first two discs and at
this point am on the fifth episode of the season. So far the show is great. Kristen Bell’s performance as the sassy and
witty Veronica is really fun to watch, the writing is really good, and the rest
of the cast is excellent in their respective roles. Apparently there was talk of a Veronica Mars
movie after the show was cancelled but that never came to fruition. I am certainly looking forward to watching
the rest of this series.
