Album Review: Thanks Anyway
Title: Thanks
Anyway (Amazon)
Brooklyn’s Woodpecker started out as a bit of a joke with
member’s playing bluegrass covers of punk and hip hop songs. Since then the band has released two albums, Thanks Anyway being the latest. The record is a fascinating mix of bluegrass,
indie pop, and Americana played on (mostly) acoustic instruments—including banjo,
accordion, glock, keys, stand-up bass, mandolin, electric bass, guitar, cello,
and fiddle. The mix of instruments creates
an incredibly full sound that is sure to please fans of bluegrass, Americana, and indie pop/rock (at least those that can take a
bit of country).
