Album Review: Television Youth
Title: Television
Youth (Dirtnap
Records, Amazon,
iTunes)
Hailing from Montreal, QC, Canada, Sonic Avenues play a brand of punk rock that harkens back to the genre’s humble beginnings in the 1970s. Their latest album, Television Youth, is an excellent collection of hyper-energetic
songs in the vein of The Jam, The Only Ones, and The Briefs. The record has a strong garage rock feel to it while the songs themselves show the influence of power pop creating a fun, best-of-both-worlds, mix that is sure to please fans of both. In fact this record should please most fans of punk rock (especially the pop punk, power pop, garage, and high energy indie rock variety).
