Album Review: American Boy / American Girl

Title:  American Boy / American Girl (State Line Records, Amazon, iTunes)
Artist:  Bryan McPherson (Official, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Blog, BandCamp, CD Baby, Last.fm)

Bryan McPherson plays passionate and angry folk/folk punk.  His sophomore album American Boy / American Girl is a journey through the underbelly of the American Dream.  McPherson channels the rage of the Occupy movement through the music of Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and punk rock (though the later is an attitude thing, not a sonic thing).  The record touches on the subjects of injustice, inequality, war, and economic desperation powered simply by an acoustic guitar, the occasional harmonica, and a passionate voice.  American Boy / American Girl is a great record for fans of folk punk or protest music.
