Album Review: 13 Weeks

Title:  13 Weeks (BandCamp, Shive Records)

B.A. Fielder’s latest album 13 Weeks is a collection of dark and quirky country tunes.  The music itself is fairly simple, sticking with acoustic guitar to drive most songs, with a few instances of piano or a full band.  The subject matter of 13 Weeks is dark and deals with love and loss.  The record was written during the first 13 weeks of 2012 (hence the name) and recorded on 4-track cassette.  The lofi recording method adds a warmth to the recording that might have been lost if recorded in a fancy studio (and the record sounds great).  Mr. Fielder is a prolific artist having released multiple records and EPs within the last few years and is definitely an Oklahoma talent worth checking out.
