Album Review: With Our Powers Combined

Title:  With Our Powers Combined (Official)
Artist:  Destroy Nate Allen (Official, Facebook Twitter, MySpace, Last.fm, BandCamp, CD Baby, iTunes)

Destroy Nate Allen is a folk punk husband, wife duo from Portland, OR.  For their latest record, With Our Powers Combined, the Allen’s have recruited an entire band.  The result is a sound that mixes elements of ska, early punk, and folk creating a sound that is very reminiscent of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s punk scene (kind of like a mixture of The Specials, Violent Femmes, and The Rezillos).  Lyrically the album is tongue-in-cheek social commentary, perfectly exemplified by the lead single “We Talk Occasionally On The Internet.”  Overall the record is a lot of fun and a great bouncy ride for the coming summer.
