EP Review: Budnick

Title:  Budnick (BandCamp)
Artist:  Budnick (Facebook, BandCamp)

Hailing from Salt Lake City, UT, Budnick play twangy pop punk with gravelly vocals, kind of like a mix between Social Distortion and Screeching Weasel.  The band’s self-titled debut EP is six songs of catchy punk rock that is a lot of fun to listen to.  The band that Budnick reminds me of the most is The Dimestore Haloes, a sadly often forgotten band that mixed elements of punk and country to incredibly catchy ends.  Budnick does the same thing exceptionally well.  One of my favorite moments on the EP is the acoustic “Looking for Leftovers,” but honestly the entire thing is really good.
