Album Review: Hairdresser Blues

Title:  Hairdresser Blues (Hardly Art, Amazon, iTunes, Interpunk, AllMusic)

Hunx first proper solo record, Hairdresser Blues, keeps all of the elements that made Too Young to Be in Love so much fun (read my review here), albeit a bit more somber in nature minus His Punx.  In other words this is a record full of garage/bubblegum/doo wop/indie rock fun but with a emotional depth that was more suited for a slightly subdued presentation.  Now don’t get me wrong, this is not a slow and sappy record.  These songs are catchy and fun, just not the uninhibited romps from Too Young…  That having been said, Hairdresser Blues is a great record.  Great for fans of the Vivian Girls, Feel Spectres, Jenny & Johnny, Eux Autres, and La Sera.
