EP Review: Shambles EP

Title:  Shambles EP (BandCamp)
Artist:  Shambles (Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, BandCamp, Last.fm)

Shambles is a pop punk trio from Boston, MA.  Their self-titled debut EP is six songs packed with hooks, snotty vocals, and anthem filled choruses.  With song titles like “Yep, 27 And Still Writing Pop-Punk” and “I Award You No Points and May God Have On Your Soul” its obvious that Shambles has a very tongue-in-cheek attitude (and probably also listened to a lot of Dillinger Four records).  The EP’s standout moment is probably “Everybody’s In Love With Someone Who Isn’t You” a song with an excellent riff.

There isn’t anything groundbreaking going on in Shamble EP, but this is pop punk and as much as I love this kind of music, groundbreaking it is not.  Shambles is a band that displays a lot of potential.  I’ll be interested to see what these guys come up with next.
