Album Review: Killing Time

Title:  Killing Time (Slumberland Records, Amazon, iTunes, AllMusic)
Artist:  Terry Malts (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Last.fm, AllMusic)

Terry Malts is a three piece lo-fi garage rock, power pop, punk band from San Francisco, CA.  The band’s full-length debut, Killing Time, is an exceptionally fun record to listen to.  The songs are ridiculously catchy and infectious and the vocals have this smooth and sultry Joy Division meets The Jesus & Mary Chain quality to them.  In fact the best when I can think to describe this band is imagine Joy Division playing high energy lo-fi garage rock.  These songs are simple, no frills with power pop hooks, tight drums and bass, and fuzzy ripping guitars.  It’s hard to pick any standout moments because the entire record is really, really good.  This record is sure to end up on a lot of best of 2012 lists (including mine).  This is great for fans of garage rock and power pop alike.
