My Favorite Voices: Wilson Pickett

Wilson Pickett was one of the greatest soul singers of all time, churning out classics like “Mustang Sally,” “Land of 1,000 Dances,” and “In the Midnight Hour.”  When I think of soul music he is one of a handful of artist that comes to mind as the best of the best (others include Otis Redding and Sam & Dave).

For more information on Wilson Pickett check out MySpace, Last.fm, AllMusic, and Wikipedia.

Here are some examples of his remarkable voice; sadly though I couldn’t find a clip online for my favorite Pickett song “Barefootin’.”
