Quote of the Day

The American public does not care for its presidents to be Muslims or atheists. Which is stupid. They also have little use for milquetoasts, which is more understandable. Pres. Obama should stop trying to persuade voters who have been fed a diet of falsehood about him that he is not the Other they’ve been conditioned to fear. He ought to look his accusers in the eye and remind them that it's a sin to tell a lie. His base, and their mothers, will thank him for it.

I have to admit, it's a good-sounding line. Unfortunately, Dave--well, Dave, out of all the politicians you've ever kept track of, just how many do you think could deliver that line without looking like a complete idiot?

I'm not going to say that President Obama stands alone in this regard, but he's certainly an avid practitioner of the politically-expedient lie. Were he to deliver that line in public, I'm not sure that spontaneous laughter wouldn't break out.

Good point MOTW. Not any of those jokers could say something like that without looking like total hypocrites. I was more interested in the first part of the quote honestly, but I did like the rest enough to include it.
